Ever heard of pregnancy outside uterus? Well, ectopic pregnancy is one such kind of pregnancy. A lot of women dont even realise they have this kind of pregnancy, until they have a lot of pain.
So why is this kind of pregnancy different?
In Ectopic Pregnancy the fertilized egg doesn’t attach to the uterus. Instead, it may attach to the fallopian tube, abdominal cavity, or cervix. For a pregnancy to proceed and be healthy, the fertilized needs to be inside the uterus.
Ectopic Pregnancy Signs and Symptoms
Most of the times, these pregnancies happen in the Fallopian tube and often they are also called as tubal pregnancy too.

Some signs of ectopic pregnancy that might help you understand :
a) Light bleeding
b) pain on one part of the body
c) upset stomach and vomiting
Dont take these signs lightly. Ectopic Pregnancy can be life threatening as it can rupture your Fallopian tubes.
Reasons for Ectopic Pregnancy
Now you might be curious to know, what really happens, and why does this pregnancy happen?
Often what happens, is that your fetilized egg does not travel all its way to the uterus. Something along the way disturbs its path.
a) Emergency Contraceptive Pills : The pills that we take to avoid pregnancies, can also be a reason to this kind of pregnancy, as the egg might get stopped along its path and the fertilisation might happen outside.
b) Have Pelvic inflammatory disease or any kind of sexually transmitted infections.
c) history of infertility – which can complicate issues again for you.

How to remove Ectopic Pregnancy?
So one of the first things to doctors would do is a pregnancy test and a pelvic examination.
This might even require an ultrasound just to be extra clear that there is no growth in the Fallopian tubes.
